2025 is nearly over! Over the year we try to help you with video game acquisitions for your libraries by creating lists of the video games released for a particular quarter. To complete the year we are revisiting all four quarters of the year plus adding a year end wrap up! As usual you can sort the spreadsheets by column – ESRB, Cost, Platforms, and more – to help you with your acquisitions!
January to March
The list of games released from January to March of 2025 is 158 games. There are 71 games available for the PS4, 102 available for the PS5, 55 available for the Xbox One, 85 games available for the Xbox S|X, 97 games available for the Nintendo Switch, 11 games available for iOS, 13 games available for Android, 22 games available for MacOS, and 148 games available for Windows. The mean cost of games released this quarter is about $30.93, the median cost is $24.99, and the mode cost is $19.99. The ESRB breakdown is 21 games rated E, 25 rated E 10+, 66 rated T, 24 rated M, and 22 games which did not receive an ESRB rating.

April to June
The Second Quarter 2025 Video Game Release list was a momentous one! This was the first list featuring the Switch 2!
The list of games released from April to June of 2025 is 209 games. There are 50 games available for the PS4, 123 available for the PS5, 47 available for the Xbox One, 108 games available for the Xbox S|X, 93 games available for the Nintendo Switch, 23 available for the Nintendo Switch 2, 17 games available for iOS, 16 games available for Android, 22 games available for MacOS, and 188 games available for Windows. The mean cost of games released this quarter is about $32.22, the median cost is $29.99, and the mode cost is $19.99. The ESRB breakdown is 34 games rated E, 35 rated E 10+, 62 rated T, 41 rated M, 1 whose Rating is still Pending, and 34 games which did not receive an ESRB rating.

After combining the lists for all four quarters and being deduplicated the Captain Planet-like annual list of games released is 789 games. The mean cost of games released this year is about $32.12, with the median cost being $26.49 and the mode being $19.99. The ESRB breakdown is 131 games rated E, 138 rated E 10+, 258 rated T, 149 rated M, 3 whose rating is still pending, and 109 games which did not receive an ESRB rating.
