We are so excited to be going to the Annual conference in Washington D.C. this year from June 23rd-28th. Here is a listing of all of the events we have scheduled.
GameRT Booth #3535
Stop by and say hi! It sounds like we will have a little bit of a gaming set up as well to take a little break from it all. We will be there from Friday through Monday. Maybe longer!
Gaming Lounge #3637
Find out about the newest games. Awesome game companies set up in the Gaming Lounge and demo games and show off beautiful new stuff in the Gaming Lounge.
ALAPlay
Friday, June 24th from 7:30-10 PM. Marriott Marquis, Independence Salons E F G H
ALAPlay is a yearly gaming event that takes place on the Friday of the American Library Association’s annual library conference. The event is an opportunity for librarians to come, explore game, maker and STEAM resources and programming ideas. The event includes:
- Open Gaming
- Publisher Demos
- Unpub
- Maker and STEAM Demos!
Presidents’ Program
Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 2:00pm – 3:30 pm. Washington Convention Center 144B-C
GameRT is celebrating the 10th year of being a Round Table! Join current and former board members for a look at where we’ve been and where we’re going as a round table. Join a discussion on games collection development and participate in a hands-on collection processing challenge. Attendees will also have a chance to win a door prize!
Trivia Championship
Saturday, June 25th from 5-7 pm. Embassy Suites, Capital Ballroom.
GameRT has paired with New Members Round Table and Reference & User Services Association to make this Trivia Contest happen. Our President, Thomas Vose, headed up a team of volunteers to organize all of the questions on a variety of topics. There will be cash prizes, and possibly silly crowns. Teams or solo players are both encouraged.
GameRT Board Meeting
Sunday, June 25th 11 am -12 pm. Washington Convention Center Room 153.
Because a good portion of our board will be at ALA in person, our June board meeting will be in-person. All of our meetings are open to anyone curious about what we do, but meeting in-person allows us to hold side conversations after the meeting, and network a bit with other librarians interested in gaming.
Mystery Hunt!
ALA GameRT was asked by our ALA Liaison to prepare a virtual escape room for LLX in January. The mystery hunt was a great success, and the same team of amazing librarians will be making a combined virtual and in person experience for ALA Annual. Look out for clues from the Guild of Mysteries!
