You are about to enter a shared dream with your friends. It may take you on a wild adventure under the sea, or to a faraway land, or even soaring through the stars. In Dream On, you will tell the story of your dream together, one card at a time. When you wake up, you’ll work together as a team to remember everything that happened, before the story slips away from you. The better you’re able to recall the story of the dream, the more points you’ll earn. But don’t worry if your memory is a little foggy, you can rely on your teammates to help you out! Dream On is a fast, simple, cooperative game with stories you’ll want to relive again and again.
It’s time for an International Game Week (IGW) Sponsor Spotlight! This time, it’s Dream On, a cooperative storytelling game from CMON! Dream On is a game about memory and dreams. You’ll work together with your team of 2-8 players to build dreams using dream cards. Using your hand of dream cards to contribute to the dream, you will try to tie together disparate images and themes to make a cohesive dream. But be quick! You only have two minutes for the dreaming phase.
Then your team will move on to the remembering phase. The last player to contribute to the dream picks up the dream card pile face down and tries to recall the dream. As they recall the dream, they flip over the cards to reveal if they correctly remembered the dream or not. Since this is a cooperative game, their team can help with recalling the dream!
Scoring points is set up in a unique way in this game – with points going toward (or being subtracted from) the team as a whole. If the individual recalling the dream remembers a sequence correctly, the team gets two points! If they get a part of the dream correct with help from the team, the team gets one point. But if they get part of the dream wrong (individually or collectively) the team loses two points! You score the dream based on the number of points you have at the end of the remembering phase, aiming for 61 points or more to have the ultimate dream!
Dream On can be played quickly with a play time of 15-20 minutes. The game has a whimsical art style, with dream cards displaying images of wildlife, people, objects, and places (including outer space). Because the dream you create is different every time you play, Dream On has a lot of replayability. This game is also great for building improvisation or storytelling skills.
Thank you to CMON for being a sponsor for International Games Week 2019 and pledging to donate this game! To those whose dreams come true and are randomly selected to receive this game, you’re gonna love it! If you’re not among the chosen, it still is definitely worth adding to your collection. Sweet dreams!
