Donor Spotlight! Trivium Studios

Beginning this month, libraries can download free, print‑ready Time Rift Classroom Sets directly from the Trivium Studios website — complete with quickplay rules, battle decks, and large‑format play mats designed for easy library programming.

Hi everyone — Jonathan here from Trivium Studios. I serve as our Education & Content Director, and I’m thrilled to share something special with the GameRT community.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen firsthand how libraries have become essential hubs for tabletop gaming. Whether it’s teen spaces, adult game nights, homeschool meetups, or community strategy clubs, libraries are one of the few places where people of all ages can discover games without cost barriers — and without needing to “find someone to play with.” Libraries are the someone.

That’s why we’re excited to support the American Library Association’s Games & Gaming Round Table by making Time Rift Classroom Sets completely free for libraries.

What’s Included in the Free Classroom Sets at the: Time Rift Educator Hub (Encyclopedia Anachronistica)

Each downloadable set is designed for 2 to 4 players and easy printing, quick setup, and immediate play, making them ideal for circulation, programming, or drop‑in events:

  • Quickplay Starter Game (PDF) Three downloads here that teach how to play with each lesson adding more strategy and cards. Includes rules, cards for two players, and a 2‑page play mat. Just print, cut, and play.
  • Large‑Print 2‑Player Play Mat (PDF) A full‑size mat scaled for 24×24-inch printing — perfect for makerspaces, teen rooms, or event tables.
  • Two Historical Battles this month: The Battle of Thermopylae and The Battle of Salamis
  • New Historical Battles will be added about every 6 weeks through the school year! Join our Time Rift Educator Discord to VOTE on which battle is released next. YOU choose!
  • Learn the history behind every card in Time Rift at our Encyclopedia Anachronistica

These materials are part of our broader mission to make Time Rift accessible for educators, librarians, and community organizers. They’re designed to be low‑prep, high‑engagement, and easy to run, even for staff who are new to tabletop strategy games.

Why Time Rift Works in Libraries

Time Rift blends fast tactical play with historical themes, making it a natural fit for library programming:

  • Short, high‑energy rounds that work for drop‑in play
  • Easy onboarding for new players
  • Built‑in educational hooks for history, critical thinking, and systems reasoning
  • Flexible formats — casual play, tournaments, clubs, or curriculum‑adjacent activities

We’ve seen libraries use Time Rift for teen engagement, STEAM tie‑ins, after‑school programs, and even intergenerational game nights. The classroom sets are designed to support all of these.

Where to Get the Free Sets

You can download all classroom materials directly from the Time Rift Class Sets page on our Teacher Hub.

We’re honored to support the incredible work libraries do to make games a vibrant part of community life. If you have questions, want programming ideas, or would like to connect with other educators using Time Rift, feel free to reach out on our Teacher Discord or email me directly (jcrymes@triviumstudios.com).

Thank you for everything you do to bring play, learning, and community together.
