Low Stress High Mayhem: Shadowdark RPG Series

February 10 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for a new, multi-part series as we play Shadowdark RPG, a new TTRPG from the Arcane Library. With this series, we hope to delve into the questions and key points for running a longer-form or multi-session RPG. Our intent is to demonstrate what kinds of things you may want to consider if you would like to add TTRPGs to your programming, including a session zero, bringing together players who may not know each other, and dealing with the unknowns that can arise during a game.
Low Stress High Mayhem is a TTRPG live play session streamed on Twitch. GameRT members will explain and play the game then talk about how it can be added to library programming.
From the game’s kickstarter page:
“In Shadowdark RPG, you and your group of crawlers use magic, steel, and wits to delve into mysterious ruins, lost cities, and monster-infested depths. Wondrous treasures and long-forgotten secrets await you! But don’t let your last torch burn out, or you could be swallowed by the Shadowdark….
5E players will find what they’ve been waiting for: an intuitive and complete TTRPG that serves as a seamless bridge into the heart of the Old School Renaissance. Old-school gamers will find a system that is familiar and nostalgic, but with major quality-of-life upgrades that modernize the old-school experience. Your legend awaits, crawler. Lift your blade, light your torch, and plunge into the unknown depths of the Shadowdark!”
GM bio:
The game will be hosted by the ALA Game & Gaming Roundtable and GMd by Carl DiNardo, Research & Instruction Librarian at the University of South Florida. Carl has played and been the GM for a number of systems, though his current attention has recently been running a nearly two year in-person 5E campaign.
