GameRT Election 2021 Results

Congrats and welcome to the new officers! We are pleased to welcome back two Board members in new roles, and two new members to the Board.

President-Elect

Rebecca Strang is our new President-Elect! She is a children’s librarian at the Naperville Public Library in Naperville, IL, and she was previously a Member-at-Large and is a regular contributor to our open Facebook group, League of Librarian Gamers, and she is one of our Discord server moderators. We are excited to have Strang serve for another three years (her first year will be President-Elect, then President, then Past President). When hearing the news, Strang added, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve GameRT for another three years! In my presidential term, I look forward to expanding the webinar series that I helped create over the past year; launching an upcoming partnership with the Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA) that will partner libraries with games publishers to assist with collection acquisition and games programming; and celebrating our big International Games Week anniversary that is coming up in 2022. The round table has grown so much in the past couple years and I’m excited to see us rebrand, provide more resources, and offer great networking opportunities.”

Members-at-Large

We are also excited to welcome on board three Members-at-Large. Two are new to the Board and one is returning; all are engaged GameRT members.

Jenn Bartlett is the head of reference at Manchester Public Library in Manchester, CT. She is currently finishing up her term as Past President. We are excited to have her back in a new role! She said, “I’m excited once again to be a part of the GameRT board, this time as a Member-At-Large. I’m looking forward in continuing our work in growing the profession, growing our presence in the hobby, and continuing to provide an inclusive, equitable, accessible opportunity for our patrons.”

Danielle Costello the Reference LTA at the Odum Library of Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. She currently serves on GameRT’s Programming Committee. She said, “Thank you all so much, I am elated to be elected as Member-at-Large of GameRT! I am excited to continue the work of building the community of gaming in libraries and assisting those who are interested in starting or expanding their own.  And I hope it’s not too machi koro but I catan wait to work with everyone!”

Dana Scott is the library director at Marion County Library in Yellville, AR. She currently serves on GameRT’s Membership & Promotion Committee. Scott said, “I am honored to be selected for this position. During my term, I will continue to promote Gaming/Games in Libraries but hopefully to a wider audience. I would like to work with GameRT to find publishers who will help little libraries such as mine (and bigger ones too) grow their gaming collection. This appointment might just help my community understand how HUGE gaming is to all ages and walks of life.”
