Hi folks! I forgot to mention this when it happened last week, but the map of IGD participants for 2014 is now up! Instructions about how to use it are on the Press Kit page [inactive], and I’ll reproduce them here for your convenience.
The shortcut to the stand-alone webpage of the map is http://bit.ly/igd14map or http://v.gd/igd14map – if you want to link to the map, use either of those shortcuts.
If for some reason that shortcut doesn’t work, or you want to cut out possible errors from the referrer, the original URL is https://www.google.com/fusiontables/embedviz?q=select+col1+from+1pnaSGefHDOEqRbmdl-Pscio8UR1rDARbsAHFqY1U&viz=MAP&h=false&lat=9.265891742631307&lng=-32.723723968441185&t=3&z=2&l=col1&y=2&tmplt=2&hml=ONE_COL_LAT_LNG.
(See why we wanted the shortcut? We recommend using the full address only in actual web links, and the shortcuts in any human-readable text!)
If you’d like to embed the map into an online promotion of the day, you can copy and paste into the HTML of your webpage:
<iframe src="https://www.google.com/fusiontables/embedviz?q=select+col1+from+1pnaSGefHDOEqRbmdl-Pscio8UR1rDARbsAHFqY1U&viz=MAP&h=false&lat=-1.240231100600394&lng=-5.425729199999969&t=3&z=1&l=col1&y=2&tmplt=2&hml=ONE_COL_LAT_LNG" height="300" width="540" frameborder="no" scrolling="no"></iframe>
Or you can use a shortened URL, though this adds a point of failure by redirecting through bit.ly:
<iframe src="https://bit.ly/VB4gHF" height="300" width="540" frameborder="no" scrolling="no"></iframe>
Here’s how it should look:
NB – this map is automatically updated roughly once a fortnight with new registrations. That means more libraries may appear after you post the map. So either avoid talking about exact numbers, or be sure to note that the map may be updated after you write.
